At Lee’s Summit R-7, we value our students’ perspectives and the role their feedback plays in helping us understand and improve their school experience.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 21, students in grades 4-12 will participate in the Missouri Culture and Climate Survey, developed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in collaboration with the Institute of Public Policy (IPP) at the University of Missouri. The survey gives students an opportunity to share their experiences at school and provides valuable insight into the culture and climate of our schools. Student responses are confidential.

Survey questions can be viewed below:

As a measure for our Continuous School Improvement Plan, we added two questions to the DESE survey:

  • I am able to control my emotions when needed.
  • I feel like I belong at school.

Parent Opt-Out Information

Parents and guardians who do not want their student to participate in the fall and spring Culture and Climate surveys must complete the opt-out form by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16.

To complete the form, you will need your student’s seven-digit lunch number. The lunch number can be found in the PowerSchool Parent Portal under Student Credentials. If you have multiple students in grades 4-12, you must complete a separate form for each student.

If you are unable to locate your student’s lunch number, please contact your student’s school for assistance.
